Vitamins and update.

I have been very good about taking my vits everyday. I might miss a day here and there but never more than 2 and I always pick it back up.
I ran out of EPO 2 weeks ago, so I am going to have to restock on that pretty soon but I keep forgetting.
Other than that its been great!

Im still juicing although not daily like before but its still a big part. I have been adding flaxseeds to my juices because flax is just so good for you!
I have found that the flaxseed oil bloats me so I eat the raw, organic seeds. Just grind them up and mix them into the juice or any foods. They do give a nice flavor and texture.

I have added daily running to my regimen, which has given significant results! I have asthma so I had to start off slow. I started off with walking for 20min everyday and then worked up a faster pace everyday. Then increased the amount of time every day as well.

Right now I am running or walking at a brisk pace for about 30min everyday.

My stomach is completely flat, although I still have a layer of fat it is going down everyday and I look great.

All the weight I put on over the holidays is pretty much gone.

Now I am working on toning my belly and arms.

Facebook Parenting for the troubled teen - My Thoughts

This particular video has gone viral overnight! I saw it a few days ago and found it interesting to see the reactions some people have had to it.

I wanted to post my thoughts as well. Since this blog is based on being a single parent lets talk about parenting stuff!

Would I do the same thing?? Yes I would, but probably not in the same way.

Obviously once your kid gets to their teenage years they are going to rebel in one way or another. Much of the time they are selfish and wrapped up in what their parents will not let them do and have, as opposed to realizing what they actually have. Teenagers often do not realize that there are always people out there who have it worse than they do. Kids do not know how to appreciate what they have.

I am going to say that I think she might have been a little spoiled in a way and this is why. First of all, that was a pretty nice laptop. I myself was looking at that particular one when I was shopping for a netbook. Not that I am saying she should not have her own laptop, but who knows what other things like this she may have or at what age she was given it.

Secondly, he says that she needs to be reminded everyday that she needs to do her chores. In my opinion kids should be taught at an early age how to participate in their household and clean up after themselves. They should know at an early age that everyone has a job to do, and it is not always the parents responsibility to clean the house everyday after coming home from a long day at work.

She should not have to be told everyday what she needs to do, she should already know.

When I was a kid, my parents didn't make us clean until we were in our teenage years. And then they went about it all wrong. We took turns doing specific jobs and they would only make me and my older brother do the work. The 2 'babies' didn't have to do anything and obviously my older brother got away all the time without doing anything. This obviously left everything on my shoulders and I rebelled.... a lot.

To this day my younger brother, who is 22, does not hold the type of responsibility that he should have if he would not have been spoiled the way he was as a kid.

If you start you kids early then chores and being able to take responsibility for yourself and things of the like will not be much of a struggle once your child learns to become their own person.

Again, I cant actually say when this girls parents started teaching her responsibility, so who knows. That being said, she may be reflecting on her friends and their responsibilities or lack thereof. She may feel as if she does too much because her friends do nothing or very little and she is jealous.

The biggest thing I see is that this child is obviously crying for attention. To post something like that to all of her friends on facebook and to say that she does everything in the house and that her parents do absolutely nothing I'm sure is an exaggeration. But, truthfully even if it wasn't, so what! If her parents give her a comfortable living why shouldn't she participate in that way?

She is looking for all of her friends to be like "You go! Tell those parents what they need to hear!", "You are so right!" "I cant believe your parents!" Kids often use their parents as a scapegoat to being everything that is wrong in their life. They need to have someone to blame for how they feel at any point in time.

Would I have shot the laptop? No, because that is money gone, especially since he just got finished fixing it. I would have taken it and it would have been mine. She would probably see me walking around the house like 'do duh do duh dooo' using her laptop. It would have been password protected, so even if she wanted to and it was laying around she couldn't even log on. Or I would lock it away or even sell it.

Maybe that is a bit much. haha But truthfully she needs to learn that you reap what you sow. He did show her that and hopefully she does learn that everyone needs to work for the things they have and unless you clean houses for a living you will not be getting paid for cleaning up.

Who the hell gets paid for cleaning up after themselves? Please.

My oldest is 8 and he takes out the trash, washes the dished and keeps his room clean. My baby girl is almost 7 and she sweeps the floor and cleans her room. Sometimes it is a challenge getting her to do things but that is something that you have to work on. The baby is almost 4 and he cleans up his toys when he is done playing. Sometimes we do assembly line dishes, where everyone does their part. I like to set a specific time aside everyday just for cleaning and get everyone in on it. They all love to help do the laundry!

Make it a habit, make them feel included, make them feel like they accomplished something. That way you will not have to force them later on. It will be second nature. Also, I learned not to bribe/reward them for cleaning and other chores, because they will learn only to work if there is a reward in the end. If they get rewarded from the beginning they will then expect it and you will have a really hard time un-teaching this.

He made his point and I do not think he went overboard, I do not think he was too harsh. Everyone has their own way of parenting and you have to give him credit, because this video went viral, I am sure that his daughter will not step out of line again. She may protest and be pissed that she has no laptop, but thats her fault. He stated that he spoke to her about this before and yet she continued. If you let your child continue to get away with things they will never listen to you. Sometimes it takes extreme parenting and tough love to turn things around with your child.

And again, I hope she got the message.

Upping your protein intake

If you want to burn fat quickly it is good to reduce carbs and increase protein in your diet. I said previously that I am adding a protein shake to my diet in addition to juicing and vitamins. Protein is great for weight loss(or gain, depending) and exercising but my favorite benefit to protein shakes is hair growth!

I went to Vitamin Shoppe and grabbed a brand which I know to be very good. TwinLab Lean Muscle formula Whey Protein powder in Vanilla.

I also got a Blender Bottle which gave me a little $5 discount on my purchase. 

The Blender Bottle comes with a wire wisk which mixes everything up inside the bottle well.

The instructions say to mix one scoop for every 6oz of water so here I made a double serving with 12 oz and 2 scoops of the powder.

I added the wisk thingy and shook until everything looked well blended.

 I have to say that this does not have much flavor in it. Not that I was expecting for it to, however it can be improved upon by adding it to smoothies and other things.

Today I threw in some coffee with a little amaretto creamer to make it taste a little better and I am enjoying this. Plus it will give me my caffeine kick for the day. I used Folders original here, but I do like the premium roasts and flavors much better. I am a sugar fiend and have been reducing the amount of sugar I eat for a very long time because many people in my extended family have had diabetes. That is not something I want to develop. But I have not added any sugar to this and it is actually not bad by itself.

I make one 12oz bottle and have been drinking this throughout the day. Drinking one 12oz bottle of this everyday I am getting 50g of protein through 18 various amino acids.

Protein to reduce fat

I have been doing research in reducing the amount of fat in the body and I have come up with a plan to do so in a relatively short amount of time.

Here are a few things I will include in order to do so:
Reduce/eliminate carbohydrate consumption
Reducing the amount of solid food
Increase protein in diet

Obviously the first one I am already doing as well as reducing the actual amount of food I have been eating everyday. Over the past few months I have just been eating way too much, it has been hard to break the habit of always feeling hungry but I have been able to do so and I now only eat solid food once a day.

I juice throughout the day and am getting all the nutrients that I need. Carbs obviously are bad and have been the main part of my diet which has caused me to gain weight. Because I had been eating so many carbs my weight, metabolism, and digestion have not been stable. I feel that it is very important to nip this in the bud very early on as it will be a huge problem for me later in life.

I want to remain a nice size 5.

The one thing that I have not incorporated just yet has been the increase of protein in the diet. To be completely honest I do believe that you can not just eat a protein rich diet. It does give amazing results however the protein alone in my opinion is not good health wise.

What I plan to do is instead of eating more meat I will include a protein powder supplement consistently for a few months and record the results.

I have not posted any pics but I will be doing a before and after video after the fact. Again I will say that I am by no means what someone may call 'fat' nor do I have a weight problem. I am just unhappy with not being at my ideal weight due to holiday weight gain.
I want to get back to having a flat stomach that does not fold over when I sit down. :P

Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead - Movie Review

I saw this movie was available on Netflix so I decided to watch it. I heard about it before and am aware of their Mean Green juice that many people drink.

I have been juicing on and off for years now and I enjoy learning about the experiences of others. I have to say that this documentary was seriously inspirational!! I loved every bit of it.

Many people jump into juicing and fasting only to lose weight and going about things that way does not always work out in the end. You have to really be able to commit yourself and focus on the overall health that you will achieve in the end to become truly successful.

The two men who were the main focus in this movie were truly inspirational in that they both in the end enjoyed sharing their success with others and helping others to achieve their goals in regards to their health.

I was really moved by the fact that the truck driver actually called and asked for the help that many people may not think they need. It takes a ton of courage to be able to admit when you need help sometimes, and I am very proud of him for having the strength to pick up the phone. Im sure he feels the same way because it was truly a life altering decision for him to have made.

I was amazed at the amount of weight that these two guys lost in such a short amount of time. To shrink that much, that fast, and in a healthy way, was what changed the minds of everyone around them.

In the beginning of the movie Joe went around asking people how they felt about juice fasting and many people had the usual reaction of 'No way, I could never do that', as was expected. I find it funny how people tend to run away from anything healthy. In my home we eat mostly veggies in every meal. But when we visit the homes of others and they serve dinner there is usually not a single vegetable in sight!

That is very upsetting to me because veggies are normal to me because my dad cooked like a semi vegetarian. It is strange for me to see other people and they hate broccoli. My kids love veggies!

Also in the movie they talked about life expectancy. It saddened me to see people saying that they would not be surprised if they died at 55.

55 is a young age!

Many of the people in my family have lived into their late 80s and late 90s. My grandmother died a few years ago at 96. My great great uncle just died last year at 99. Thats on my dads side.

On my moms side my grandmother lived to be 86 and she had diabetes type 2, I believe.

Some of it is due to genetics but if you live a healthy lifestyle you can live a long full life. You can maintain your youth if you exercise regularly. Its never too late to start.

It is not difficult to incorporate into your lifestyle either. Eat your vegetables raw or very lightly cooked so they still have a bite to them, they should not be mushy. Juice daily. Get some cardio 2-3 times a week. If you keep active while you are young then you will not slow down as much when you are older.

All in all, this movie was amazing and very inspirational. It shows that with dedication it is not very difficult to achieve your goals and it will always pay off in the end.

I truly believe in juicing and fasting and I hope that everyone would at least try it before they write it off.

The world would be a better place. :)

Getting rid of Hormonal Cystic Acne

I am 25 years old and I experience Hormonal Cystic acne. Every month for at least 2 weeks I am battling a series of huge painful blister-like pimples on my face, behind my ears, and on the back of my shoulders.

To be completely honest, I dont really have a huge issue with it, aside from the ones that hurt like hell. But sometimes it can get really annoying to always have these huge under the skin lumps on my face. :/

Not to mention the scars that are left behind.

I usually get these bumps on my chin, temples, behind my ears, and my back. These are not nice places to have dark ugly scarring. Even though I heal better than most sometimes it takes a little longer for the scar to fade.

Therefore I decided to work on my skin. Over the past few months I have been very consistent and I can say that it has helped a ton with clearing up my skin. Although it is not perfect it is getting there and I am happy with it.

What have I been doing?

Salicylic Acid and Vitamins.

Biore Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser
Acne pads- Any brand- Oxy, Clearasil, Equate
Clinique Moisture surge

I wash my face every morning and night with the Biore cleanser. It is really cooling and refreshing but at the same time drying because of the salicylic acid and menthol. I pat dry with a fresh paper towel and then massage in my Clinique Moisturesurge.

When I feel a blemish I do one of two things:
1. I use the acne pads to dry it so that I can squeeze it out.
2. I apply the Biore cleanser to the area and allow to soak in overnight.

Using Salicylic acid in excess can cause the skin to dry out and peel. It is a BHA so it does chemically exfoliate the top layer of the skin. When using this you will need to manually exfoliate as well. I like to use St. Ives Apricot scrub, but if I want something less harsh I will take a hot face towel and steam my face, then use the towel with my cleanser and scrub gently. You will see the skin flaking off into the towel.

Because BHAs exfoliate the top layer of skin it is great to use to help fade acne scaring. I have been consistent with the Salicylic acid for a few months now and I can see that my scarring has significantly reduced.

The vitamins I have been using have made a significant difference in the appearance of my skin. Keeping consistent is the key! Since I have been consistent I have noticed a great reduction in the amount of acne I get due to my hormones.

Last time I was consistent with the vitamins my skin was completely clear of all acne as well as any scarring. It has a natural dewy glow. This is what I would like to achieve again and keep.

I am not wearing any makeup in these pics. No foundation, no concealor, no eye makeup, nothing!
Cant see much, but if I had any acne it would jump out at you. You can see what scarring I do have along the jawline and on the forehead. I have one lone pimple on my temple in the bottom pic.
This is a great improvement from where I was a few months ago.

Much of the time when you are walking down the skin care isle you are sure to see products with Benzyl Peroxide. For me, that stuff is like the plague for my skin. The second it touches down my face breaks out like never before. Therefore I do not use this or any other acne medication currently.

I do want to try a RetinA type of product in the future. This product is not only good for acne but it is also good for maintaining a youthful appearance to the skin.

As with anything it takes time and effort to get and keep your skin the way you want it to be. Clear skin is not something that everyone is blessed with, but regardless of what we look like I believe that we should be comfortable in our own skin. There is always room for improvement, but we should always be happy with who we are first.

Keeping Consistent

I have been really good about keeping consistent with taking the vits. I started 2 weeks ago right after I finished my 3 day juice fast.

So far I have noticed that this month the cramping was minimal. My usual hormonal acne was not as bad, even though I did flare up some, and my skin was slightly more oily than before.

I have been over using my salicylic acid face wash to help dry up my acne and fade scars and that has caused my face to become very dry and flakey. To counteract this I have been exfoliating a lot more and moisturizing with my Clinique Moisturesurge.

As with before when I was consistent my skin cleared up completely and that is my goal again this time.

Truthfully I have no huge issues with my acne. However, when the hormones come around the corner I tend to develop these huge cystic pimples under the skin which are very painful and red. That is not something that I want to deal with all the time.

So I have opted to go back to the only thing that has helped me in the past and so far it is helping and I will be happy to reap all of the other benefits. Clear skin and healthy, faster growing hair.

Weight issues

My normal weight is 125lbs.

When exercising and getting in shape I don't believe in weighing myself. I prefer to compare how I feel and how I look in pictures.

Well today I weighed myself and can I say I am not happy.

Last time I got on a scale, which was a few months ago, I weighed 135. Today I am at 141lbs.

I don't like it. I feel like I have not made much progress. I have been juicing for a few weeks consistently.
I did my juice fast and have been doing b&ps.

I have to say, I know its not a lot to some people but it is a lot for me. I am not used to being this weight.

The last time I weighed this much I was pregnant. The most I've ever weighed was 152lbs and that was at 9 months with my biggest baby. My little lady.

I have to focus on staying consistent. And I have to admit that I have been slacking off a little, but I am motivated to change.

25 is the age where you should start working out or else you will have issues later in life. For me my life at this time has been so hectic and stressful for me, my weight, and food choices have not been ideal.

The problem that I have encountered most is that even though I eat healthy I do tend to throw a lot of junk in there as well. I have been eating a lot of rice, so that is one thing that I will cut completely as well as the cookies...

I have an addiction. Its not anything crazy but when I get these cravings I cant seem to let them go. lol
I am addicted to chocolate! Especially around that time of the month, I do believe that it has helped curb my cramping, as I find when I don't eat it, its much worse. Chocolate is a pain killer, did you know that?

I have to say that after my scale shock I did punish myself and do an extra set of pilates yesterday. I am very sore today, but I am not going to slow it down and will be doing another set today. I might even increase to working out everyday as I find if I don't do it daily I tend to forget about it.

Ok I think I have rambled enough for today and will end with this. I have been consistent with my vits, but have been slacking off on the workouts. And I am going to re-evaluate my food choices to reduce starches and sugars.

Getting back in shape - Day 4 & 5

Yesterday was day 4. It was my off day for working out and since I had a few things going on & didn't get home till late I wasn't able to do any juicing.

Today however, was much better. I woke up & got in a good hour+ of yoga. No pilates just yet, but I will later. I have been juicing all day, so I guess I can say this is the first day of my 3 day juice fast. As long as I don't cheat! I did 1 B&P so far today.

Here is one I did which was very refreshing:

3 carrots, 2 celery stalks, 2 kale leaves, and a piece or ginger.

My trick to get the most juice out of the kale? I let it soak in water for a little while before juicing and then wrapped tightly around the carrots with the celery holding it all in place. :)

Getting back in shape- day 2 &3

Starting out I said I am going to workout every other day so yesterday I did not work out. My abs were a little sore from the day before.

I did some juicing yesterday and today after running to the grocery store really quick to pick up a ver things. Here is a quick vid of the things that I grabbed.

One juice that I did was Carrot, Celery, Lime, Ginger. Next time I'll use only half the lime as it was a bit too much tang.

I also did a apple, kiwi, strawberry, which was really good.

My favorite has always been carrot, celery, and ginger though.

Im going to do a B&P and my yoga later on.

Check in 1 - Geting back in shape!

Yesterday I started my exercises. I decided to begin with the treadmill and did a good 15 min at a fast pace for the first and last 5 min and I ran for 5 min in the middle.

I do have Asthma so I cant run for very long without getting really winded, so I had to stop. After running on the treadmill I got out my yoga mat and did some stretches for a good 20 min and then did some pilates for another 20 min or so.

I did one B&P the very first night and yesterday I did 2 B&Ps.

I decided to put the 3 day juice fast off for a few more days because I have a few things going on this weekend and I don't want to start and be out with all the temptation... lol

So depending on my plans for this week I will most likely start on Monday next week.

I didn't stick to my plan completely but I did start out good. I am a little sore today and am going to go and do some yoga in a few minutes.

I found a great yoga channel on youtube finally. They have full length workouts, which is just what I have been looking for. I still want to find a channel or website that does free full length yoga and pilates videos. So I need to do a little more searching. :)

How do you work out?

I am 5'7".
I weigh around 130 lbs.

I have been having minor issues with my weight just recently over the past year or so. After having 3 children who isnt having weight problems??

I am far from being overweight but I have been between a size 1 and 3 my entire life. Now I am in a size 5 and on the verge of moving into a 7. I want to get back down to my perfect size 3.

My favorite workouts are yoga and pilates.

Yoga is very relaxing and helps greatly with any stiffness and problems along those lines. It stretches your body and greatly increases flexibility as well as strength.

I have been doing these workouts on and off for years and they have been very helpful in keeping my body fit and lean. However it has been a few years since I have exercised consistently. It is time for me to pick it back up before I gain any more weight.

What I like to do when I begin working out is a little juice fast for 3 days. I use B&P shakes as well and this helps clear out the system.

I am a strong believer in fasting and I base it on my experience with it not on what others have to say.

One key point I have noticed, if you begin fasting and feel like shit, that means you have to start slow. You have a ton of toxins in your system and if you release them too fast you will feel sick.

I want to start off with a 3 day juice fast while doing B&P shakes 2-3x a day. I may add a few days to the fast but after I finish I will continue the B&P shakes and begin my vitamin regimen.

I have been looking for a few good pilates/yoga videos but am not finding what I am really looking for so I will probably do it on my own. Throw some head phones in and get to work. I am also going to run on the treadmill for 20-30 min each day to get a little cardio in the workout.

What I am trying to work out is my schedule..

I am thinking of incorporating everything as follows:

Wake up, B&P shake, treadmill for 20 min
An hr or so later breakfast- juice

B&P shake

Before bed, B&P shake, Yoga/pilates

This will be during the juice fast.

After the fast, I will add the vitamins into the mix and maybe a protein shake as well.

The Vitamin schedule will be as follows:

Shen Min, EPO, silica

B-100, Biotin, Pantothenic Acid

MSM powder I will take once every 2-3 days, 250mg in a glass of water.

I like to start off working out 3-4 days a week and then move into doing it daily gradually. I am going to begin this plan tonight with a B&P shake and a good 30 min pilates workout.

I am going to check in every day until thursday in order to keep track of everything that I am doing and any changes/mistakes I have made.

Why do we "hate" so much?

People in this world are slightly more tolerant than they were in the past, however it is human nature to be jealous or "hate" someone for whatever reason.

I was inspired to write this because of my little brother who is taller than me. He "hates" the awesome and super cute Justin Bieber and in turn has taught my son to dislike him as well. I love the biebs and am a super fan of this child who is almost 10 years younger than me and I teach my children not to "hate" people.

Naturally it upsets me when my little boy talks about how he hates Justin Bieber. Being the person that I am when someone is feeling some type of negative energy I like to talk to them and explore to find the root cause. Of course my son only dislikes him because my brother does.

My brother on the other hand "hates" him mostly because he does not like the hit song 'baby', which of course I love. His other reasons are because they share the same first name and that Bieber is a successful artist loved by millions. Hey just check out the insane amount of followers he has on Twitter!

But then, my brother informed me that he does enjoy Justin Timberlake. And I paused for a second and questioned him as to why in this world would you like Timberlake and not Bieber?? They are basically the same but different ages!!

Then I had to inform him of Timberlakes past just to see his reaction. Clearly my brother did not even know that not only was Timberlake a huge part of the boy band N'Sync but he was also on The Mickey Mouse Club with Brittany and Christina!!

Of course his reaction was shock and he then dismissed Timberlake as well.

As I stated before, I am a fan of Bieber so I conducted a little experiment. We were discussing Christmas songs and he's not really into them either. (Yea, I know) I decided to play a little song for him to see if he would like it. I did not tell him who the author was or the title of the song. To my surprise he actually reluctantly enjoyed the song!

The song I played was Justin Bieber's Mistletoe.

Awesome song!

I then shreaked in delight and ran down the hall laughing because I obviously thought it was THE funniest thing ever!

When I told him it was a Justin Bieber song his face went completely blank. He was completely speechless!

I am sure I will probably never let him live this down. I am his sister after all. Lol

The moral of this story. What is the point of hating someone for reasons that have little or nothing to do with you? I will never understand why people "hate" people they do not know or people who have never done anything to hurt them.

Being in the public eye in any form, there will be people who love you but there will always be that group of people who "hate" you simply because so many other people like you.

Spending your time hating on others is in my opinion one of the worst things you can do. There are so many other things you can do with your time. Why is it so important to spend your life being worried about others and creating negative energy?

It is better to open our minds and look for reasons to like someone or somethings instead of searching for reasons to hate them. Am I right??
